Putter Fitting

Step One.

Player Interview

During this conversation, I will ask you about your putting, learn your main tendencies and explain how each of the putting performance parameters being measured is influenced by the key putter fitting specifications and how each of the performance parameters can be improved.

The putting performance parameters that will be measured for initial analysis are alignment at address, alignment at impact, stroke path at impact, stroke path, face rotation, shaft angle/actual loft at impact (effective loft), dynamic loft, impact spot, club velocity at impact, and stroke tempo.

Step Two.

Equipment Analysis

Your existing putter will be measured for all of the key putter fitting specifications. (See What to expect from a Putter Fitting).

These Blueprinted. Certified. specifications are recorded and presented to you on your Blueprint Certificate.

Step Three.

Player Analysis

First, I will take a series of measurements including your height, wrist-to-floor, upper and lower arm length and wingspan (fingertip-to-fingertip). These will be used to determine the best starting point in fitting you for the correct length and lie angle of your putter.

Then, using SAM PuttLab, I will have you make a series of putts from a variety of distances and the data from each putt will be recorded. After the first series of putts, we will evaluate your putting data.

Step Four.

Data Analysis

Now we will discuss the initial set of data recorded. I will explain to you how your data is having an effect on your putting and how each performance parameter compares relative to each other.

After going through each area, we can evaluate your strengths and identify the areas where improvements can be made.

Step Five.

Test Club

This is where I will produce a test club for you using your measurements taken during the Player Analysis. I will set up a putter which can be adjusted for length, loft, and lie, a variety of grips, and different amounts of counterweight in the grip end of the shaft.

I will explain my proposal for each adjustment along with the putting performance parameter in which you may expect to see an improvement.

We will repeat completing the series of putts and analysing each set until the best specifications for you have been identified.

Step Six.

Follow up

Your feedback whilst using this test club is essential to help make the final decisions for your putter’s specifications.

At this point, I will present you with my final Blueprint plan as to what putter specifications are best suited for you.

This could be to recommend some changes in your setup or posture, to change the grip or adjust your loft and lie angles, to recommend a different putter, to detail any bespoke adjustments to your existing putter or the option of having a hand-crafted custom assembly.

This is not the end.

Upon delivery, you will come back for an evaluation to determine if any adjustments are required to make sure your new putter is just right before you play your first round.

If you have any further feedback after you have taken delivery, I will work with you to make any adjustments to ensure the specifications of your putter are perfectly tailored to you. Only after we both agree the club has been fully optimised, is the process finally complete.
